You Get a Husband and You Get a Husband

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:32

Marriage is a beautiful desire. Your longing for marriage does not mean you are discontent. But what happens when your desire for marriage gets the best of you?

We struggle in our singleness because we’ve been told that you get a husband, and you get a husband, and you get a husband like God is a vending machine. We attend session after session to learn how to date and be more marriage material.

You leave the session anxious to get home to write another letter to your future husband journaling your love and desire for him. In prayer you ask: “God have you seen my husband? He must have gotten lost on the way. You said you will direct our paths so can you direct him my way”.

God promised us many things, but he never promised us a husband. The beauty of truth, though uncomfortable, is that it allows us to push pass our disappointments to be set free (John 8:32) to ask ourselves the hard what if questions.

Many issues we face in our singleness are issues we could face in marriage—like loneliness, discontentment, longing for intimacy, or even the desire to have children.

There will be seasons in your life when you will be over your singleness or over your marriage. It is in these times that God will make ‘everything beautiful in its time’ (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Are you willing to let Jesus make everything you are going through beautiful? The world is waiting for your kind of beautiful that only God can make.

Our mission at Becoming More Beautiful is to make lives beautiful by pursuing Jesus to become like him (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Whether married or single, we need community. It is in community that we have meaningful conversations, where lives can be changed. We need community to experience growth and discipleship.

My passion is to continue seeking and creating community by teaching bible studies, small groups, workshops, hosting group sessions for your friends at your home, or speaking at conferences.

Why? Because I remember what it was like to live the same way expecting different results. Wanting change and needing someone to walk with me in truth through my what ifs.

Would you please help me reach others by sharing this devotional with your friends, church leaders and social media.

Hope to see you at our upcoming Fine China Women Workshop. We have a few spaces left for the workshops scheduled on Saturday, March 10th and Saturday, March 17th. Other workshops are sold out.

Stay connected on our website to get exciting information about upcoming workshops scheduled in April for married women, as well as detailed Redefining Beautiful Coaching packages for single and married women (individual or group sessions).

Thanks for being a part of the Becoming More Beautiful community. I love you all and have each of you in my prayers.

Becoming More Beautiful,

Debbie
