Walk in the Light, Beautiful Light

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
1 Peter 2:9
While reading John 12:35, the urgency of the message reminded me of the Best-Loved Bible Songs book that my granddaughter sang along with until the battery depleted.
Pressing the interactive buttons on the wooden side panel would allow her to play a different song though her favorite song to play was—This Little Light of Mine—a Sunday School Classic song for children.
John 12:35 writes: So Jesus said to them, “For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.”
The Light will not be among us forever. Many people assume they can follow Jesus later, but such thinking can lead to spiritual darkness.
John 8:12 says: Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The only way to stay in darkness is to avoid being followers of the Light. As followers of the Light, we must walk in the light daily.
John 3:19: “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.”
The Message version (John 3:19-21) puts it this way: “This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-
work it is.”
The blind beggar called Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52) was sitting at the side of the road one day when Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. Jesus gave sight to Bartimaeus and brought him out of darkness into light.
1 Peter 2:9: "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
The other week, I purchased a new fully charged Best-Loved Bible Songs book for my granddaughter. The first song she pressed on the wooden sidepanel and that we sang loudly was: This Little Light of Mine.
Prayer: Jesus, help us to be a light in a dark world. To be different from those around us. To be peculiar people. To let our light shine before others. To do so while there is light among us. To walk in the light, the beautiful light. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
